Description

This ten minute feature presentation at the Northwest Territories pavilion at EXPO '86 offers a unique glimpse into the power of the land and the spirit of the people.
In this non-narrative film, a progression of images, natural sounds and haunting music are woven into a tapestry of experiences: Inuit celebrate the arrival of spring at the Kingalik Jamboree; walrus bob in the icy waters near Hall Beach; a resupply ship pulls into harbour at Iqaluit; children learn to spell in Inuktitut on a computer using the syllabic script; caribou roam the tundra on Ellesmere Island; a Dene elder sings and drums a prayer song for people everywhere.
